Sheltered Village is an Intermediate Care Facility for Developmentally Disabled Adults that has been in continuous operation since 1973. The Village has been privately owned by the same family since its inception in 1973 under the corporate name DORR-WOOD LTD. We have 96 licensed beds which includes three (3) special care rooms adjacent to nursing for individuals transitioning from the hospital or requiring special care. We currently have 109 employees including 17 nurses, 63 Direct Care Staff, 7 professional case managers and numerous support personnel. We also operate a vocational training program, Rail Enterprises. Many of our staff at all levels have been with the facility between 5 and 32 years and our management staff averages 26 years of experience the majority of which is at Sheltered Village.
Located in Woodstock, Illinois we serve individuals from all over the state of Illinois. Woodstock provides a small town atmosphere with first class services. Our facility includes a living room, activity room (added in 2002) dining room, treatment rooms, full serving kitchen facilities and laundry facilities in addition to bedrooms, showers and linen room. Our residents can decorate their room as they wish and many of their art work and crafts decorate the walls of our common areas. Families are encouraged to visit often and there is no restriction on home visits or vacations. Sheltered Village is located on five acres and with our courtyard and gazebo there is plenty of space both indoors and outdoors.
